European Union policy towards Free Trade Agreements

The European Union has recently shifted to a trade policy that envisages a greater use of Free Trade Agreements. At a lunch seminar on May 4, Dr. Stephen Woolcock will present a new ECIPE study on the content and profile of EU FTAs. The paper also discusses the motivations behind the shift toward bilateral agreements and whether the EU can reconcile this greater emphasis on bilateral FTAs with its commitment to multilateralism in trade.
