Anti-dumping policy in the European Union
In the last decades there has been a sharp increase in the global use of anti-dumping measures. Today anti-dumping policy is at the centre ground of trade policy and plays a significant role in shaping bilateral trade relations – in particular countries’ relations to China. Furthermore, anti-dumping actions often reach headlines and leave clear imprints on the politics of trade and economic relations in a broader milieu.
The European Union is currently reviewing its policy for trade defence instruments (TDI) and will in December publish a Green Paper discussing current policy and presenting views from stakeholders. This is an important initiative. As the WTO negotiations have been suspended it is important that countries find other ways to reform current policy.
With this letter you are cordially invited to a seminar on anti-dumping policy in the European Union. This seminar is set in the context of the current review. A representative of the European Commission will present the background to and the present position of the review. We have also invited some key experts on anti-dumping policy to discuss the rationale for a reform of anti-dumping and TDI policy in Europe, and how such reforms can stimulate other countries to undertake similar efforts.
RSVP: by December 8 to info@ecipe.org
